Yeah, Chris McCulloch originally voiced him. There’s even an animation test that was floating around YouTube that had that voice in it. Lot raspier-sounding.
(That old wiki isn’t too reliable and gets vandalized, though the newer one’s been static and left hanging)
I’ll have to check that out, then. It sounds like it would be interesting to hear. I love Chris McCulloch, but I also think Eric Bauza did a great job with his voice.

Did a check, and sadly the animation test has been long removed from YouTube. I’ll have to remove the post that originally referenced it (the embed link is now dead).
McCulloch did play him off VERY similar to the Monarch in the overall tone and rasp. The animatic reel for the episode has never been released, but that’d probably have his voice track in it since those are done early in production.
Either way, things worked out for the better since you get Eric Bauza involved with the show! McCulloch still voices a lot of other guys, too.
